Internet Outage Across West Alabama For Multiple Providers
A major internet service outage is affecting much of West Alabama and other parts of the state.
Initially, we had reports of outages for customers of Xfinity, and we can confirm that the University of Alabama campus is affected.
Additionally, we have word that Charter/Spectrum is also experiencing a service outage in West Alabama.
Spectrum has been informing customers this afternoon that they are working to restore service as soon as possible.
No word on other providers at this time.
Now, we may finally have some answers on what is causing these outages today.
The UA Office of Information Technology sent this post out a few moments ago.
We have had communication with Xfinity, and they are working hard to restore service in our area.
However, they say their service may not be fully restored in much of the area after 7:00 pm.
Some areas may come back before others, but it could be several hours until the problem is remedied.
