HEALTH WARNING: Northport, Alabama Man Is Covered In Ticks

Watch out, lettuce is a badass. It just doesn’t roll off the tongue. However, earlier this summer, quite a few folks in Tuscaloosa and West Alabama were exposed to bad lettuce and the illness known as Cyclospora. As of about 12 hours ago, United States health officials and the CDC deemed the record-setting Cyclospora outbreak over.

However, we have something else to be concerned about: an incredible and very unusual number of ticks showing up all over people in the South, Southeast, and Texas. Of course, most folks are aware of the very serious disease that can come from a tick bite, and even though the disease is rare, it can be delivered through a tick bite on your flesh.

Nobody wants to be in a hospital for months. And learning how to fight Lyme disease. That is a very scary disease, and I have a family member who was diagnosed back in 2002, and it has been an incredible and awful struggle every day since.

I came into my Northport, Alabama home, and as I headed for the laundry room, I ripped off my T-shirt, and thank God I paid attention. So many people are oblivious to what is happening on their own bodies and right in front of their faces! As I took my shirt off, I felt something on my wrist right at the bottom base of my left palm, and I gasped out loud because I was staring at a tick that came out of nowhere. I immediately used tweezers to make sure it was all the way out and that the head was out, and I've spent over two hours going over every nook and cranny of my body to make sure there is no tick.

Please be careful, and please be aware of what is happening in West Alabama and the gravity of any incident that involves our children and their school buses. Let’s keep everyone safe this year and have a fantastic school year in 2026 and 2027.
