What the Heck Are Bama Fans Singing During ‘Dixieland Delight?’
A new season of Alabama football is here, and this comes up every year.
I am merely your lowly, yet trusted (I hope) public servant here to help as many folks as I possibly can with this age-old debate/question.
So, as fans file into a full-capacity Bryant-Denny Stadium to watch the Tide on Saban Field this season, they'll be ready to watch the game and to participate in one of the Tide's most beloved traditions.

I've often wondered if the boys from Fort Payne ever knew this song would be so popular for decades and decades.
Someone told me it was inspired by a road trip on U.S. Route 11W back in the day.
Not sure if that info is valid, but it appeared on their album "The Closer You Get" back in 1983.
It was a #1 smash on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and then became a football tradition.
By the way, please don't give me any stuff about how the song is ACTUALLY about Tennessee.
I don't want to hear it. Clearly, Alabama fans took it and made it their own, doing it better than any other school.
Are you ready to sing "Dixieland Delight?" You've got to do your homework first, y'all.
I hope that helps some as you sing it this football season.
