Alabama Teen Football Player Deserves Justice

It takes a lot to get me this fired up, but the story of Alabama football player August Borden should anger all of us.

Nothing in this story makes sense. We are asked to suspend all logic and remove our brains.
I’m sorry I can’t do that.
As far as I can tell, the facts have never truly come out in this case.
A young man, while on school property, is hurt so severely that it’s a miracle he is alive, and his injuries will be a lifelong battle and very, very slow recovery.
August is from Tuscumbia, Alabama, and he was beaten severely and had life-altering head injuries, damage to his eyes, and eye sockets.
It was a brutal attack in every way. It occurred on the grounds of Deshler High School in Late August of this year.
We have frequently discussed in this column how we live in a digital world that is constantly under surveillance. There are cameras in every corner of our world today.
However, for some odd reason, there is absolutely nothing that can be pointed out and shown to explain what exactly happened to August Borden on the day in question.
By the way, did I mention that this victim is only 15 years old? Let me just say that again, this victim is only 15 years old and was almost killed.
He had to be air-lifted to a Birmingham hospital and was unconscious for two days. I’m talking 48 hours of unconsciousness.
Not only is this case full of questions and inconsistencies, but now some at the school are making fun of young August Borden and praising the student who beat him brutally.
How could any decent human being behave this way? How could any school condone this type of behavior?
Over the weekend, a true crime podcast highlighted this story. It produced a video mocking August Borden in a tasteless manner, which the school appears to condone, and may be responsible for its display at this past Friday night's football game.
