Law enforcement took a 12-year-old boy into custody earlier today after he admitted to sending a threat via email. Authorities have not released the juvenile's identity because of his age. The emailed threat was sent to Duncanville Middle School staff, who immediately notified local authorities.

The Tuscaloosa Sheriff's Office says the email, sent from an unknown address, threatened to "blow up the school". Officers then arrived on campus and searched the school, delaying the school day. The search was conducted by deputies as well as K-9 units. The school started about an hour later than usual. Law enforcement said that after the search, no threat was found on campus at Duncanville Middle School.

Afterward, police investigators began investigating where the threat came from. The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office crime analysts reviewed the email and traced the email address's location. Investigators identified a suspect, and during their interview, he admitted to sending the threatening email to the school. That individual was charged with one count of making a terroristic threat.

Authorities say that any and all threats of this type are and will be investigated, and anyone involved will be arrested and charged. Local law enforcement says they always take threats of this type seriously.
