Hunting is a big thing in Alabama. It's pretty popular all across this state with most residents. However, Alabamians are rising up and speaking out against hunts designed to kill exotic bears.

I became aware of Alabama citizens speaking out after seeing a message on the social media platform Nextdoor.

The post is from Pauline in Duncanville, Alabama.

You can see her post HERE. Pauline was clearly upset and had this posted on her page.

In Alabama, we often have trouble with wild hogs. I have personally spoken with a number of folks whose property has been damaged or destroyed by these wild hogs. We have a problem in the state, and we simply have too many of these wild hogs. At times, the state has addressed the issue by organizing legal hunts to reduce the population.

This is pretty common around the world. In this case, it is happening in Canada with polar bears. I have no word on the reasons for these legally targeted hunts. Regardless, they are legal. If they are legal, why are so many bent out of shape?

On an interesting side note, this petition had nearly 12,000 signatures. I spoke with one of the individuals responsible for this petition, and I was told that Alabama was among the top states in terms of signatures. He said that we were either first or second in the USA.

This is obviously striking a chord with many folks in Alabama.
