Tuscaloosa County Has A Serious And Deadly Problem
We have a big problem in Tuscaloosa and Northport.

I think this is pretty much an exclusive problem as well.
In many cases, when something is going on in a town, you can point to other cities where it’s a problem. Still, my understanding is that we have a significant number of pedestrian deaths in this part of Alabama.
This afternoon, I went to a Christmas luncheon with my coworkers, and on the way back, traveling down Greensboro Road, my passenger and I noticed at least four people walking in the middle of the road.
It continued all the way down Greensboro to Skyland Boulevard.
One after another, just individuals would step off the curb and walk in the middle of the road, and not all of them were trying to get to the other side.
I don’t know if this is a mental health issue, but I know that it’s an issue.
Now, remember that this happened in the middle of the day on an average weekday.
However, this has happened many times in the middle of the night, when it is entirely dark, and you cannot see a thing in front of you.
Not every area of Tuscaloosa County is well-lit, and I have had multiple occasions when I nearly hit someone who walked into the middle of the street.
This has been a problem in our area for a while, and in 2025, it has happened far too often.
Last month, it was a 19-year-old on Jack Warner Parkway. In October, it was a 16-year-old who was hit on Highway 69. That's just a couple of them we're spotlighting, but the numbers are way too high.
THIS IS A PROBLEM.
You may not think so until it happens to someone you love.
There has to be a better way to combat this in West Alabama.
