Alabama: Who’s Fed Up With This Medication “Shortage”?
I want a new drug.
One that won't make me sick, one that won't make me crash my car or make me feel three feet thick.
If you know, you know.
OK, time to get serious.
THIS HAS TO END NOW.
In 2022, I stood in my Walgreens in Northport, Alabama, as my pharmacist said for the first time ever, "Sorry, that medication is on back order because there's a shortage. But, it should only last two months."
That was three years ago. Fast forward to today, as I stood inside the same Walgreens and was told that my medication was on back order, and it is due to a shortage.
Two months. Two months???
I don't think so.
Now, every single time that I have been in my local pharmacy to get my meds, I'm surrounded by 10-15 people being told the same thing.
Every. Single. Time.
This is beyond ridiculous.
Many times, we're talking about life-saving critical medications.
Other times, we're talking about CRITICAL mental health medications.
Do we need more folks hearing voices to be OFF their meds?
That's a big NO, MA'AM!
This has to be addressed and fixed immediately, if not sooner.
It's time for President Trump to issue an EXECUTIVE ORDER on this problem.
I hold the government accountable for this and believe it is THEIR RESPONSIBILITY to fix it.
Why is this happening in the first place?
Did we forget how to make them?
Did the one guy with the "recipe" fall down a well?
I do not believe a valid excuse or reason for this exists.
However, the FDA addressed the issue due to the LARGE number of messages they have received from folks like you and me.
On the FDA website, I counted nearly seven full pages of meds that are experiencing a "shortage".
Simply not acceptable in the United States of America.
We have a scheduled interview with the newly announced candidate for Governor of Alabama, Tommy Tuberville, next week.
I'm going to make this a big part of that interview and ask for his help on behalf of all of us in Alabama (and across the US) to help get this fixed as soon as possible.
It needs to be fixed right NOW.
Nobody deserves to have serious medical issues or suffer because we can't make medications these days.
FIX IT NOW.
