It's a good reminder for all of us in West Alabama.

Truthfully, we all need this reminder of something very simple.

According to WBRC-TV, the Tuscaloosa PD is reminding all returning students to not forget to lock their car doors.

Simple yet easy to forget at home or when you are just running a quick errand.

I was reminded as I sat in the IMAX theater in Tuscaloosa watching this big summer hit movie, "Weapons" last week.

In the film, a drug addict goes from car to car all over town pulling up handles until he finds that "unlucky" victim who forgot to lock his vehicle.

It reminded me how easy it is to become a victim just by forgetting to do this one thing.

TPD says that they don't see many vehicles broken into by force, but they do see plenty of vehicles broken into by leaving the car or truck unlocked.

Most students are starting their school year this week in Tuscaloosa.

Make it a habit to lock up that vehicle, no matter how far you are going around town.

The Tuscaloosa Police Department can provide any citizen with literature to help everyone remember the importance of locking up by reaching out to them at 205-349-2121.
