The Junior League of Tuscaloosa (JLT) is an organization of women dedicated to encouraging voluntarism, fostering women's potential, and enhancing communities through the effective actions and leadership of trained volunteers.

During their May Meeting and Annual Awards celebration, the Junior League of Tuscaloosa honored and awarded 7 diverse community groups with monetary grants. This contribution aims to bolster the efforts of these groups, enabling them to continue their vital work and expand their reach.

The community organizations will use the funding for a range of initiatives, from educational programs to community services, all designed to improve the quality of life for residents. This is a testament to the Junior League's commitment to fostering positive change and their dedication to building a stronger, more vibrant Tuscaloosa.

Diamonds for Doulas was ecstatic to receive a grant from JLT. The grant will help champion “in-person Doula support to families that are recipients of Medicaid and WIC,” said Jamilah Channel, Chief of Operations and Head Doula.

“This is very crucial in changing the birthing outcomes because research has shown that just having a Doula in the room can positively affect the outcomes for a mother and baby during delivery. We are honored to be able to continue our mission with the support of this grant.”

“This year, JLT has been a source of growth, inspiration, and elevation. I am grateful for every woman who serves in this incredible organization as we came together through the Northport Bunny Trail and built lasting bonds while serving West Alabama,” said Austin Bulter, outgoing President. “It is our collective dedication and hard work that makes our community a better place, and I know JLT will continue to reach new heights.”
