Auburn University Faces Lawsuit Filed By Students And Professors

In this case, Auburn grad students are accusing the school of a hostile, frat-house environment, according to AL.com.  Yes, lots of universities have been accused of having "frat-house" environments, but this is a little different. According to a new federal lawsuit filed on Monday, the environment impacted both work and studies.

Five individuals have joined together to file the lawsuit, according to AL.com. Two are former doctoral students, and three are professors who tried to intervene in some way. The students, both females, claim they were forced to listen to a cluster of sex jokes and try to study in an "overtly sexualized culture" inside Auburn's College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment.

The students say that the culture hurt their ability to do important research in their field. They also say that the treatment forced them to give up on their ambitions to obtain PhDs at Auburn. The lawsuit also names an assistant professor who, according to the complaint, allowed the frat-type atmosphere to continue.
