Whenever Walmart opens a new store in West Alabama, it becomes a big event.

The big, brand-new Walmart Neighborhood Market at 8600 Alabama Highway 69 is the talk of the town.

Walmart has plenty of events planned to kick off the new store, including Alabama football players, live music, and giveaways.

Alabama running back and Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram signed footballs in the morning, and hometown musician Regan Stewart is on stage in the afternoon.

Already, crowds have been big on the first full day of business for the new store.

Much of the attention on social media is devoted to the attached liquor store, a feature only seen at this location in Alabama.

Be prepared for some long lines, but Walmart has extra cashiers and employees on duty to help ease the customer congestion.

The new Walmart, in honor of the grand opening week, is also giving away prizes from store gift cards to other valuable Walmart items.

The brand-new Walmart Neighborhood Market also features a 10-gas pump walk-in fuel store on site.
