Why were some Alabama basketball fans told by a police officer to “sit down” at Saturday’s Bama/Houston game?

Townsquare Media Account Executive and Twitter sensation Hunter Johnson witnessed the incident at Saturday night’s game. Johnson said 4 young guys were standing and cheering on the Tide. An older gentleman sitting behind the young Tide fans was not happy with the fans on their feet.

A police officer was called and reportedly told the younger fans to “sit down”.  The officer was met with boos from fans who chanted “let them stand”.

Some have raised issues with student support at Bama sporting events. When younger fans show up and support the Tide in a tight game, the last thing that should happen is a “sit down” command by a police officer.

If you are easily annoyed by Bama basketball fans on their feet, perhaps you should listen to the radio broadcast or watch at home.

Let them stand & Roll Tide!
