Avoid Consuming Fish Caught from These West Alabama Waterways
Alabama boasts an impressive network of rivers and streams, spanning over 129,700 miles, along with 41 public lakes and reservoirs.
Moreover, it is home to diverse fish habitats, making it a treasure trove for anglers in the United States, said the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH).
However, Various lakes and rivers in Alabama have been found to contain certain toxic chemicals, which can accumulate in fish over time.
The ADPH advises that “with some of the chemicals, higher levels of the contaminants can be found in older and/or larger fish.” This can pose a risk to people who eat certain types of fish.
