
Tuscaloosa Native Willie Williams Narrates Upcoming TSO Concert
The Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra (TSO) announced its season finale concert, "Heroes,” on Monday, April 29, 2024, at 7 p.m. in the Moody Concert Hall.
According to a press release from TSO, This finale “features Joseph Schwantner's powerful New Morning for the World: Daybreak of Freedom, which uniquely combines the stirring words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with lush orchestral arrangements.”

According to the TSO Facebook Page, the narrator will be Willie Williams, a "Tuscaloosa native who currently serves as Director of Music at Bishop State Community College in Mobile. Mr. Williams is a musician, actor and activist who also leads tours with the Alabama Civil Rights Tourism Association."
He is set to recite the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during our forthcoming Heroes concert. The opening composition, “New Morning for the World: Daybreak of Freedom” by Joseph Schwantner, is a compelling piece inspired by MLK's speeches and writings.
