Armies Of Wild Hogs Causing Big Problems In West Alabama
This is a big problem.
Some families in the Tuscaloosa, Alabama region and surrounding areas are having to go to war day in and day out with these monsters. They DESTROY THINGS! LOTS OF THINGS!
Feral essentially means in a wild state after escape from captivity.
According to the USDA, Feral hogs can carry harmful organisms and pathogens. This can lead to infecting humans with the Swine Flu, Hepatitis, E. Coli and Salmonella.
Just to name a few of the many diseases carried by these out of control destructive pigs.
Many states facing an infestation of these beasts, Arizona, Florida, Louisiana and Oklahoma get tons of press and help with the problem.
Feral hogs in Alabama pose a serious threat to native wildlife and they have extremely high reproductive rates.
The USDA estimates that feral hogs cost nearly $1 billion in damage every year. The wild animals cause between $50-60 million in damage here in Alabama.
Yes, programs exist to help with this problem but it needs to be more effective in control of the population.
Recently, I met the Miller family of Demopolis and heard their story. They deal with this kind of thing every single day.

Mrs. Miller told me, "I was able to shoot a couple of the hogs you see in the video. However, one or two ran into the woods and escaped."
I have seen several animal rights activists making a big deal out of killing any of these wild animals.
I find it interesting that they make these comments from a state that DOES NOT have to deal with it. What do you think should be done?
