There have been a few Alabama connections to Artemis II and its mission to the moon.

Even today, as Artemis II made its way around the "dark side" of the moon, Huntsville, Alabama-based crew members were communicating with the astronauts.
Did you know Alabama has one of the biggest rocket plants in the United States?
Pretty interesting, right?
The company is known as United Launch Alliance, and they are located in Decatur, Alabama.
This team played a big role in the launch of Artemis II as it orbits the moon.
Decatur's United Launch Alliance employs around 1,000 people, and they have a specific role in the process.
They are responsible for building the upper stage of the space launch system rockets behind the Artemis missions.
The name of that upper stage system is the Interim Cryogenic Propulsion Stage.
Way too scientific for my understanding, but critical to the NASA missions.
What about the next mission?
Well, according to employees at the facility, they have already built the required piece for Artemis III.
That mission should launch in 2027.
Alabama's involvement in this mission can't be ignored or understated.
After all the jokes have been made, it turns out we have plenty of rocket scientists in Alabama.
