Alabama Adoption Group Brings Important Event To Tuscaloosa
There are over 5700 children in foster care in Alabama.

Because of a lack of caring foster homes, some children are placed in homes several hours' drive away from their communities, and siblings are often placed in different homes.
One group in Alabama is working to improve things and ensure that kids' needs come first.
AGAPE of Central Alabama, with an office in Tuscaloosa, began its mission in 1978. As a ministry of Jesus Christ, AGAPE’s mission is that vulnerable children find permanency in safe, nurturing families. AGAPE carries out its mission by providing foster care, adoption and services to expectant mothers in crisis. To further their mission, AGAPE will host their annual Love Matters dinner in Tuscaloosa next month.
Steve Duer, Executive Director of AGAPE, told us the event is a fundraiser and a friend-maker. He invites anyone interested in learning more about AGAPE’s ministry to consider attending.
Part of the event will involve people sharing how AGAPE’s services have impacted their lives. Duer says the stories of AGAPE’s impact confirm his calling to the mission. He reported that one mother that AGAPE served during a particularly challenging time shared that “She (the AGAPE staff person) showed me who Jesus was, without ever saying his name.” Duer adds that without the partnership of those who support AGAPE, that story simply doesn’t happen.
The event on March 4th is called "Love Matters" and is a benefit dinner held at The Church at Tuscaloosa. Doors will open at 6:00 pm. Robinson's BBQ is catering the event this year.
Steve Duer reminds us that "Kids' needs come first". He says the need is strong for more families willing to partner with them and others who will return the message to their home churches to help spread the word.
Individual tickets as well as tables for eight people are still available for the dinner on March 4th and you can contact Baron Goins at bgoins@agapeforchildren.org
