Tuscaloosa County Names Secondary Principal Of The Year
Darrell Williams has done a fantastic job at Tuscaloosa County High School, and now there is proof.

In the halls of Tuscaloosa County High School, something is always happening and usually at high speed.
When you walk in, most days, you hear the echo of students’ laughter bouncing off the polished floors.
It was a relatively quiet morning at Tuscaloosa County High on Friday, but the hallways hummed with the momentum of possibility. You see, Principal Williams had recently received a distinction that still felt surreal: the Secondary Principal of the Year award from the Tuscaloosa County School System.
The recognition wasn’t a trophy to him as much as a reminder of responsibility, something he often talks to his student body about, of listening first, leading second.
That's really good advice, and it would be good for all of us to spend time with Darrell Williams and soak up his leadership skills and wisdom.
Williams leads by example, and that's one of the core reasons for the spark lit at TCHS. They are the kind of sparks that could ignite a school’s culture, if only someone would keep stoking the flames.
Darrell Williams has learned to listen for those sparks in every voice, especially the quiet ones.
He believes in second chances and in teaching accountability, a philosophy he's carried into Tuscaloosa County High School.
The award, he told his faculty, was not his alone but theirs: a true sign for students who work hard, learned, and lend their experience and wisdom to the younger students of Tuscaloosa County.
The majority of the time at County High, you will see Williams moving through classrooms, offering feedback and encouragement, and leading by example.
