Alabama Coach Kalen DeBoer Needs To Stop It Right Now!
Your humble contributor has been covering Alabama football for decades (off and on), going back to Bill Curry as our Head Coach.

By the way, I really liked Bill Curry. I think he was treated a bit unfairly. That is just my opinion. Boy, after Gene Stallings, we went through some dark ages. We were as lost in the wilderness as you can be! 1997, we hired Mike DuBose, and by 2001, we had moved on to Dennis Franchione. That didn't last very long. In fact, by 2003, it was on to the son of legendary coach Don Shula, Mike Shula. I mean, come on, his dad is Don Shula! Surely some of that football knowledge rubbed off on Mike!

I guess not. Fast forward through a few more dark years, and we hire a man (also connected to the Miami Dolphins) named Nick Saban. Oh yeah, we ALL owe a big thank you to QB Drew Brees. Saban has said several times that if Brees had come down to Miami to be his starting QB, he would have stuck around Miami for several more years. Thank God that did not happen, and the rest is history.

Now, we have a man following a legend (much like Ray Perkins did after Bear), and that is no easy task. Yes, we're spoiled as Alabama fans. I get it. However, Coach Kalen DeBoer needs to stop it right now. Stop this "coach speak" that insults our intelligence. DeBoer said recently that both Keelon Russell and Austin Mack are tied, and neither of them has performed better than the other.
YEAH, RIGHT!

That's not even possible. I've been around football enough, and I've talked to enough coaches to know that the odds of two players playing completely equal to each other are a farce. Just say it! Just tell us who has done better and is most likely to be the starting QB during the 2026/2027 Alabama football season. Please don't tell me that it gives our opponent an advantage. C'mon man. They are already preparing for Keelon Russell after watching film from A-Day.
We can win big with Russell. Nobody thinks we have a chance this season, and that is a great position to be in. We won't deal with the usual "we're every team's Super Bowl" as in past years. That should bring some fun and the ability to play "loose," as they say. But, hey, let's be real. One of these Quarterbacks is playing better, and I'm ready for Coach DeBoer to JUST SAY IT! Pretty please.
