Tuscaloosa Turkey Prices Revealed Ahead of the Holidays
It's almost that time of the year in Alabama. the temperatures are dropping, pumpkin spice is in the air, and turkeys are officially on sale!
Fried or Smoked/Baked Turkey?
The age old question every holiday season in Alabama. Do residents in the Yellowhammer State prefer their holiday bird deep fried or smoked?
According to Scheels, there are both pros and cons of choosing each side. The con to both methods is that it must be done outside. Frying a turkey can get messy and dangerous if you're not properly measuring your amount of grease or being careless around the fire

The smoked turkey meat maintains the most moisture but the time it takes to complete the process is often the reason why people choose the fried turkey.
Although frying a turkey takes time, it doesn't take near the amount of time of the smoked turkey.
West Alabama Turkey Prices
It looks like turkeys are officially on sale in Tuscaloosa and I can't decide if the prices are good or bad at this point. With the economy being everywhere, and it being so early in the season, I can't determine which way these prices are leaning.
At one point in Alabama, whole turkeys could be found priced at $0.49 per pound, according to this post by CNBC. That wasn't the case when I spotted whole turkeys for sale in Walmart ion Tuscaloosa.
The Shady Brooks Farms brand had whole turkeys on sale for $0.84/pound when I saw them in the store today.
At a slightly higher rate, the Butterball brand whole turkeys were $0.97/pound.
Could these be the best priced turkeys on the market currently?
