
Local Sorority Invites Tuscaloosa County Residents to Free Shred Day
The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Eta Xi Omega Chapter in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, with its Enhance Our Environment Initiative, is hosting a free community shred day in collaboration with Beulah Missionary Baptist Church.
The community is invited to a free shred day event on Thursday, October 23, to foster environmental sustainability. This public event will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Beulah Missionary Baptist Church, 3100 25th St, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401.

“Our goal is to inspire environmental responsibility right here in our community,” said Beverly Bell-Shambley, Co-Chair of the Enhance Our Environment Initiative. “By hosting this Free Shred Day, we’re encouraging residents to protect the planet through sustainable practices like reducing waste, recycling materials, and taking meaningful steps toward a cleaner, greener Tuscaloosa.”
Organizers emphasize the importance of this initiative in promoting eco-friendly practices. It will offer residents an opportunity to dispose of documents securely while supporting a greener future.
Watchdog Document Services will be on-site, shredding documents.
“Through this Free Shred Day, we’re empowering our community to take simple, practical steps toward protecting personal information and preserving our environment,” said Althenia Morrow Tate, Eta Xi Omega Chapter President. “Our collaboration with Beulah Missionary Baptist Church reflects our shared commitment to service, sustainability, and strengthening Tuscaloosa’s sense of community.”
