The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a “Winter Storm Watch” that starts at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, January 21, and lasts until 6 a.m. on Wednesday, January 22.

Residents in the Winter Storm Watch area should know that forecasts predict light to moderate snowfall and potential accumulations of up to three inches.

Possible Impacts

Travel could be very difficult.

Roads, especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous.

The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes and the Wednesday morning commute.

Other Central Alabama Counties Under the Winter Storm Watch

Autauga, Barbour, Bullock, Chambers, Chilton, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Montgomery, Pike, Randolph, Russell, and Tallapoosa Counties.

Many other counties are included in the Winter Storm Watch Area, which covers pretty much all of southern Alabama.

The Townsquare Media Weather Center is watching this closely, as other West Alabama counties are close to the watch area.
