Tuscaloosa School To Break Ground After Million Dollar Gift
The same Alabama businessman who met his wife and married her at President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort is investing heavily in his home state.

Mayers is a petroleum executive and business entrepreneur who was responsible for getting President Trump to attend an Alabama game last season.
In recent months, he’s been very focused on his new baby girl, and that might have something to do with his recent investment in a local Tuscaloosa school.
Ric and his wife, Chloe, gave a $1,000,000 gift to Tuscaloosa Academy's "Building Excellence" campaign in December 2025.
The couple is known for their generosity, particularly their commitment to children and family causes.
Now comes word of what happens next in Tuscaloosa Academy's "Building Excellence" program.
It begins with a groundbreaking ceremony on May 7 at 10:00 am.
The groundbreaking will be for Mayer's Athletic Center, and the school is inviting the Tuscaloosa community to attend.
The event will take place during the school day and feature the entire Tuscaloosa Academy community.
Board Chair Josh Johnson will deliver remarks, and Head of School Beckie Share will speak about the project's vision and long-term impact.
In addition to the $1 million donation from the Mayer's, the campaign has raised over $5 million.
