Northport Police Department’s animal control officer has been in the hospital for the past 5 days after being bitten by a dog.

According to the Tuscaloosa News, Assistant Chief Keith Carpenter said the officer responded to a call of two dogs at large in the 2800 block of 22nd Avenue and was bitten by one of the two dogs.

The dog has been placed in quarantine for observation for signs of rabies.
