A section of McFarland Boulevard will be closed in both directions all weekend as contractors set the eastbound arch of the bridge being built on I-20/59 at Exit 73, ALDOT announced Monday.

John McWilliams, the department's public infromation officer, said McFarland will be closed where it runs directly under the interstate from 11 p.m. Friday, October 4th until Monday, October 7th at 5 a.m.

Local and state law enforcement will be on the scene to redirect traffic throughout the weekend.

I-20/59 will keep two lanes open in both directions during this period.

McWilliams said motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use Skyland Boulevard (US-11), Interstate 359, Highway 215 or other alternate routes.
