Man Shot in Fight Over Cell Phone, Teen Charged with Attempted Murder
A 20-year-old man was shot in the stomach in Buhl Sunday night during an argument over a stolen cell phone, police reported Monday morning.
Captain Gary Hood, the commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said the victim was in a fight with a 22-year-old man over the phone when another suspect, 17-year-old Junious Maddix allegedly approached them and shot the victim once and fired shots at another person before fleeing in a vehicle.
Hood said Tuscaloosa County deputies were able to find and stop the vehcile and arrested Maddix after interviewing multiple witnesses.
Maddix is charged with two counts of attempted murder and one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling.
He was booked in the Tuscaloosa County Jail, where he remains pending a $150,000 bond.
