Jimbo Fisher on Nick Saban: ‘We’re Going to Beat His Ass’
An important skill for a successful life is learning from the mistakes of others.
In the fall 2019 LSU coach Ed Orgeron celebrated a win over Alabama by declaring the Tigers would continue to, "beat their (Alabama's) ass every time we play them." The Crimson Tide proceeded to out-recruit the Tigers, despite Orgeron's promise to win on the recruiting trail, and also beat the Bayou Bengals 55-17 this past season, further cementing Alabama's dominance over our Louisiana rival.
Texas A&M head football coach Jimbo Fisher apparently did not take notes and while speaking to the Houston Touchdown Club he told supporters that his Aggies football program would take down the defending champions with our without the legendary Nick Saban at the helm.
"We're going to beat his ass when he's there, don't worry," Fisher said, according to audio obtained from the Houston Chronicle.
"Eventually, that's going to be us," Fisher told the Touchdown Club. "I respect everything they do and how they do it, but we can do it just as good or be just as good or better, and we will."
Saban has never lost to Fisher in head-to-head competition and is a perfect 3-0 against him since Fisher took over in College Station in 2017. Additionally the seven-time national championship winning coach has never lost to a former assistant coach, he's a perfect 23-0 against former staff members.
Fisher was signed to a 10-year, $75 million contract with the Aggies ahead of the 2018 season but has yet to win the SEC West or earn a position in the College Football Playoffs. Taking down college football's top coach this season could go a long way to living up to the massive contract he received three years ago.
