Theatre Tuscaloosa will present several performances of the musical “Some Enchanted Evening,” from October 18-22.

The musical will act as a tribute show to the music of the legendary songwriting duo Rodgers and Hammerstein. It will take place at the Bama Theatre on 600 Greensboro Avenue.

Performance Dates: 

  • Wednesday, October 18 at 7:30 p.m. 
  • Thursday, October 19 at 7:30 p.m. 
  • Friday, October 20 at 7:30 p.m. 
  • Sunday, October 22 at 2:00 p.m. 

The website stated the show will last about two hours and include a 15-minute intermission. This musical is acceptable for all ages and contains no violence, alcohol, drugs, or offensive language. 

Theatre Tuscaloosa said the musical will explore “relationships between friends, family, and couples.” The show will not feature any dialogue, but instead tell its story entirely through song.

The theater company said attendees can expect some of the "greatest musical numbers of all time" from Rodgers and Hammerstein. Such songs include "Shall We Dance," Sixteen Going on Seventeen," and more iconic tunes from "The Sound of Music," "Oklahoma," and "South Pacific."

The show is directed by Jake Boyd, with musical direction from Leslie Poss. Theatre Tuscaloosa said audience members will see a musical with “fresh styles and sensibilities” that will “sweep you off your feet."
