I come from a family of five kids! There are three girls and two boys - my parents wanted a "basketball team" they said. (We are HUGE sports people) I'm the oldest, too!

So, when I read this new study, I started feeling pretty guilty! Apparently it costs $37,000 more to raise a girl from when she's born until she's 18 than it does to raise a boy.

Here's the kicker -- it costs an average of $98,500 to raise a boy and $135,000 to raise a girl!! That's a lot of money. So just doing a little addition, my parents will spend roughly $602,000 to raise us kids, once my little sis hits 18. CRAZY!

According to the study, the reason for the cost difference is all the extra money parents spend on clothes, toiletries, and cosmetics. Additionally, the only place where parents spend more on boys than girls is on tech products.

In case that doesn't excite you about popping out a kid, just one more thing... The study also found that parents spend an average of 21% of their income directly on buying stuff for their kids! Happy reproducing!
