Hurricane Season Heats Up: Gulf Coast Eyes Potential Development
Just in case you forgot, it is Hurricane Season. Some would argue it’s been a little too quiet, but it is starting to pick up. All eyes are on the Gulf Coast, as there is activity that could lead to potential tropical development.

The National Hurricane Center said, “A trough of low pressure is likely to form near the southeastern U.S. coast during the next day or two and then move westward across Florida into the northeastern Gulf by Tuesday.”
“Environmental conditions could become marginally conducive for the gradual development of this system by mid to late next week.”
Formation Chances

Formation chance through 7 days...low...20 percent.
At this time, “IF anything develops, odds of this becoming a strong tropical storm or hurricane are very low for now,” said James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist.
“By mid to late week, rain chances will increase for the Panhandle, as the low continues to move westward,” said The Weather Channel. “This low will increase instability in the area, which will bump the rain chances up.”
If you live, have a property, or have a trip scheduled along the Alabama coast, be sure to check back often. The Townsquare Media Weather Center will continue to monitor this developing system.
