The name Drishti, meaning “focus,” reflects the organization’s commitment to intentionally directing efforts and resources toward creating meaningful and lasting impact across Tuscaloosa and surrounding cities.
For more than 16 years, Drishti has hosted annual talent shows that celebrate and showcase the diverse talents within the community. Each year, Drishti selects a different organization in need to support, and the nonprofit is proud to have raised funds for Arts and Autism, Project Blessing, Oakdale Elementary School, Brewer Porch Children’s Center, and now the Alabama Cancer Care Angel Fund.
In addition to fundraising, Drishti remains actively engaged in hands-on service. “Twice each year, members volunteer at a local soup kitchen, providing meals and support to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity”, according to Dibya Singh of Drishti. “Through both service and fundraising, Drishti strives to foster compassion, connection, and positive change throughout the community.”

This year’s beneficiary, the Alabama Cancer Care Angel Fund, is a patient assistance fund created to support individuals undergoing cancer treatment who are also experiencing financial hardship.

The fund helps cover real, everyday needs that often arise during treatment, including copays, gas for travel to appointments, power bills, rent, groceries, and other essential living expenses.

“When someone is battling cancer, the financial burden can be overwhelming,” said Emily Shaw of Alabama Cancer Care. “The Angel Fund allows Alabama Cancer Care to step in and provide immediate support so patients can focus on healing—not how they are going to make ends meet.”
Importantly, 100% of all funds raised through the Alabama Cancer Care Angel Fund go directly to patients. There are no administrative or overhead costs taken out—every dollar stays local and is used to help patients within the Alabama Cancer Care network. The Angel Fund reflects the spirit of neighbors helping neighbors and is one of the most meaningful ways Alabama Cancer Care supports patients beyond medical treatment.
Drishti invites the community to support this year’s efforts and join in its ongoing mission of service.
