Did You Know There Are 6 Foods That NEVER Expire?
I have on occasion found several items way back in my refrigerator that have definitely expired. “Honey, I don’t think THAT cheese is suppose to be blue”.
Many items have a ‘use by’ date on them. I’ve always considered that just a suggestion.
Luckily, there are some foods, like the six listed below, that never, ever expire.
1. Vinegar. This is a fermented product. Fermenting makes vinegar acidic, which makes vinegar self-preserving. This isn’t science class. Bottom line is vinegar never goes bad.
2. White Rice. Rice is perfect for long term storage. If kept under 40 degrees, rice can last 30 plus years. Rice stored in warmer temperatures can last 10 plus years.
3. Sugar. Even though food storage experts say sugar is best if served within two years, it never really goes bad.
4. Salt and pepper. Salt and pepper can stay in your pantry indefinitely. Plain salt can last forever.
5. Vanilla Extract. Real vanilla extract does not spoil because of its high alcohol content. The flavor actually deepens over time.
6. Honey. Store hone in a sealed container and it never spoils.
So now you know. Six foods that never expire.
