Alabama Retaliates: Texas Band Will Sit in Upper Bowl
The Texas game takes place this weekend and that brings drama.
Last season, the Tide made the trip to Austin, but was only offered seats in the upper deck at the Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium.
This affected the Million-Dollar Band specifically, as they were unable to send their full crew due to seating complications. The decision by Texas certainly left a bad taste in everyone's mouth.
This year, though, Alabama is repaying the “hospitality” by giving Texas seats in the upper deck seats at Bryant-Denny.
Since Texas is still part of the Big Twelve conference, Alabama is not required to meet SEC standards for visiting institutions.
This technicality led to the same decision by Texas last year.
The contract between the two institutions stated the visiting institution could have a total of 5,000 tickets. 500 of those tickets were “comps,” and the institution could request up to an additional 4500 tickets.
It is yet to be announced whether the Texas band will refuse the invitation.
The Tide and Longhorns will kick off at 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2023.
