Alabama Faces Heat, Damaging Wind Threat, Hail, & Heavy Rainfall
Heat levels and severe weather conditions could be an issue this weekend.
The current environment is set to support showers and thunderstorms this weekend, predominantly in the afternoon and early evening. Some of these storms may intensify, posing risks of damaging wind gusts, hail, and heavy localized rainfall.
Heat Advisory Information
The National Weather Service in Birmingham has announced a "Heat Advisory" warning that heat indices could reach 108 degrees before thunderstorms develop across most regions.
This advisory continues until Saturday, August 17, at 9 p.m. It includes the entire Townsquare Media Coverage Area, including Bibb, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Perry, Pickens, Sumter, Tuscaloosa, and Walker counties.
Weekend Severe Weather Highlights
James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said, "Most (but not all) of the storms will come during the afternoon and evening hours, and the odds of any one given spot seeing rain are in the 40-50 percent range."
Saturday Outlook
The Storm Prediction Center has issued a "Marginal Risk" for severe storms for portions of Alabama.

Threats: Damaging winds up to 60 mph

The Storm Prediction Center has issued a "Slight Risk" for severe storms in portions of Alabama.

Threats: Damaging winds up to 60 mph and quarter size hail
