Alabama Beachgoers Witness Something Extremely Rare

It's always special to witness something magical!

This is no different in my mind.

Nothing is more special than witnessing life coming into this world, as crazy as it seems sometimes!

This isn't a baby, but it is just as special.

It's sea turtles!

Sea turtles normally hatch overnight but, some people got lucky in Orange Beach Alabama.

The hatchlings began emerging from the nest at around 11:30 the night before.

Word spread quickly because baby sea turtles tend to hatch together. There’s a better chance at survival in numbers. Many people watch this event and guide the baby turtles with flashlights to the water.

Baby Sea Turtles get confused by the lights of buildings, so guiding them helps their survival rate.

There were a total of 64 sea turtles that night that made their way to the ocean.

One decided to make an appearance when the nest was empty.

So just after noon, number 65 had made his appearance, and what an appearance he made.

People who missed the evening hatching got to witness a rare occasion.

Charles Gregory and his family did miss the evening hatch but were amazed but this one special turtle.

Charles looked over and saw something moving. He realized it was a baby turtle and his family had the best seats in the house, well beach.

Everyone began cheering this little guy on!

The baby turtle had a few obstacles to pass.

There were divots and footprints in the sand, 65 would fall in and just flap his little arms and legs until he was back up and running for the water's edge.

Visitors from all over the country enjoying our beaches got a special gift. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Sea turtles’ nests are marked and there is a phone number to call if anyone sees any activity. Maybe one day I can witness this event!
