
Agonizing Alabama Weather: Expect Heat Index Values up to 108
Today, West Alabama experienced some intense heat, and this trend is set to continue tomorrow.
“Hot and muggy conditions continue and could result in heat stress for some people and pets with prolonged exposure, said the National Weather Service in Birmingham.
There is a “Heat Advisory” for Sunday, June 30, from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.
This advisory includes the entire Townsquare Media Coverage area of Bibb, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Perry, Pickens, Sumter, Tuscaloosa, and Walker counties, as well as the entire West and Central Alabama area.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham reminds us that “hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.”

NWS PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities for early morning or evening.
Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heatstroke.
Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing when possible, and drink plenty of water.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments.
Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
