Here’s a fish tale that made my day. Folks taking part in the annual Walker County Lake Catfish Tournament were embarrassed when a 70 year old Jasper woman won it all.

Ms. Minnie beat her closest competitor by 12 lbs. And she did it with a cane poll and a bag of Gravy Train dog food. Yes, dog food!

One disgruntled fisherman told the Cullman Daily “I have the best equipment, boat, & electronics. There ain’t no way that old lady beat me with a stick & some dog food”. Well, the professional fisherman needs to rethink his performance.

Ms. Minnie told Cullman Daily “those men just ain’t as good at fishing as they think they are”.

Sometime simpler is better. And simpler sure seems to work for Ms. Minnie in Walker County.
