7 Things to Know for Your Tuesday in Tuscaloosa
1) A Freeze Warning is in effect for all of West Alabama between midnight tonight and 9 a.m. tomorrow morning and again Wednesday night into Thursday morning. ABC 33/40 Chief Meteorologist James Spann cautions us to not let the abundant sunshine today fool us, today will be like a winter day.
Fortunately, it will warm up a bit for UA Homecoming weekend with a low of 46 degrees for the Friday night Pep Rally and Bonfire and 51 degrees for the game Saturday night.

2) West Alabama Democrat U.S. Representative Terri Sewell is conducting her “Congress In Your Community Town Hall” today in Tuscaloosa. The event will begin at 11:00 a.m. this morning at the McDonald Hughes Center on MLK Blvd. The public will have a chance to share their thoughts and hear about the latest in Congress.
3) Governor Kay Ivey and other officials are set to make what her office is calling a “major economic development announcement” at 11 a.m. this morning in Montgomery. No official details on what the announcement will involve have been released.

4) Three weeks after strikes inside the Bibb Correctional Facility in Brent and other state prisons began, facilities have returned to normal according to the Alabama Department of Corrections.
The strike, which led to work stoppages across state facilities, was prompted by dilapidated conditions inside state facilities, the low percentage of parolees and nation’s highest rate of prison violence.
5) The latest Fish Consumption Advisory by ADPH for the Black Warrior River Basin shows 19 areas of concern. The advisories warn anglers not to consume fish that are contaminated with dangerous pollutants like PCBs and methylmercury. Eight of the advisories are in Tuscaloosa County, three in Green County, one in Walker County and one in Perry County. The Black Warrior River watershed is home to 127 freshwater fish species. 6) Superintendents from the Tuscaloosa and City School Systems will provide an update on progress for the fall semester later this hour. The Chamber of Commerce Education Summit gets underway at 7:30 a.m. at the Bryant Conference Center.

7) General Election Day is three weeks from today.
Secretary of State John Merrill believes everything is on track for what he predicts will be a near 50% voter turnout. But the Tuscaloosan told Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa’s Weekend public affairs program, West Alabama on Point, there is still some confusion surrounding voter identification at the polls. The secretary points out there is a list of all acceptable form of identification on his agency's website. Merrill reminds us that November first is the deadline to obtain and absentee ballot. They must be returned in person by November 7 and by noon on November 8 by mail.
