17-Story Waterslide Is Verruct Up

German for 'insane', the Verrückt water slide will debut in Kansas City, Kansas in 2014 and lay claim to the title of world's tallest water slide.

ABC News reports:

"Taller than Niagara Falls, taller than the Statue of Liberty from her toes to the torch" and "twice the height of the tallest wave ever surfed," the Schlitterbahn Kansas City Waterpark announced this week. The company is declining to share exact numbers until an official measuring event accompanied by Guinness World Records in the spring...'

My initial reaction is:

I have no desire to embrace my own mortality on a ride that requires safety netting in the event I become dislodged from the raft and go airborne. As a good friend frequently says: 'Y'all can have it.'
