Voters are heading to the polls today to cast their ballots in presidential, state and local primary elections. Those who do vote will have to contend with widespread rain with some thunderstorms during the day. The best chances will be in the late morning through the afternoon. Temperatures will be in the 70s at least.

Topping the News:
Voters are heading to the polls for the Super Tuesday Party Primaries today. A huge turnout is not expected. Secretary of State Wes Allen won’t speculate on numbers, but indications are less than 40% of Alabama’s 3.7 million voters will cast their ballot for Presidential, state and local races. Polls close at 7pm.
There has been much talk on social media about ballot security. However, according to Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen that is not a problem here. he believes the election will be safe, secure, fair and transparent.
Allen says a lot of work has been done to make sure the election using the new court mandated congressional districts runs smoothly.
Allen encouraged Alabama voters to visit his website at www.AlabamaVotes.gov where they can check the status of their voter registration, verify their polling location, and view their county’s sample ballots,” added the Tuscaloosa native. “I want all Alabama voters to be fully prepared as they plan to exercise their constitutional right to vote."
The Northport City Council is beginning negotiations with Northport Sports Complex Development LLC to develop, operate and maintain all facilities within Northport. One of those facilities is River Run Sports Complex where ground will be broken for its construction later this month.
Former Auburn and NBA Star Charles Barkley did not like former President Trump's remarks this past week, and he gave a warning to blacks who might be on the former president's side.
Trump spoke Friday in Columbia, South Carolina, where he said his mugshot and indictments appeal to African American voters who wear shirts with his photo on it. In a CNN interview Barkley vowed to punch any black person in the face if he sees them with a Trump mugshot.
Barkley said comparing Trumps legal troubles with blacks who have been discriminated against all these years and put in the same category offended him.
Renovations to the current Tuscaloosa County Jail are about to get underway and some 200 inmates have now been moved to a temporary jail across the street. The temporary jail is secure, and the inmate population will be comprised of female and low threat male inmates.
An investigation that began when a man was allegedly caught taking photographs in the women's bathroom of a Tuscaloosa County church has ended with him being arrested for child pornography. According to court documents filed Monday Tobias Keonte Horton has been charged with criminal surveillance. When they confiscated his phone, they found 21 child porn images.

From UA Athletics: The Alabama women's golf team closes the first round of play at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate Monday in the 11th position with a team total 5-under par 289.
Kaitlyn Schroeder leads the Crimson Tide in a tie for 21st overall after carding an even par for the day.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament hosted by South Carolina will conclude Wednesday and is being contested at the par 71, 6,369-yard Long Cove Club in Hilton Head Island, S.C.
If the 16th ranked Alabama Men's basketball Team wants to maintain pressure on league leading Tennessee it must survive a crucial and tough road game tonight in Gainsville, FL.
Florida is unranked but a packed house is expected tonight at the O'Connell Center which has a reputation as one of the tougher arenas for road teams. The Tide (20-9, 12-4 SEC) enters the contest in second place in the conference standings, two games ahead of the Gators (20-9, 10-6).
Florida took the Tide into OT in Tuscaloosa before dropping a hard fought 98-93 game to the Tide.

Weather permitting, Alabama baseball will open its upcoming five-game homestand with a pair of midweeks at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The 13th-ranked Crimson Tide will first host Jacksonville State this afternoon with the Troy Trojans coming to town on Wednesday. Both in-state matchups are scheduled for a 4 p.m. Tuscaloosa time first pitches on SEC Network+ and the Crimson Tide Sports Network.
