ROAD CONDITIONS FOR WEST ALABAMA – THURSDAY, MARCH 25, 2021

(12:10 p.m.) Via Tuscaloosa County EMA on Twitter: Old Fayette Road has been closed due to flooding. It is closed from Brady Montgomery Road to Traweek Road.

(12:44 p.m.) Via Hale County EMA: All damage on CR50 is to numerous trees and power lines. No structural damage is found at this time.

(1:21 p.m.) Traffic lights are out at the intersection of Highway 69 and Skyland Boulevard. Avoid this area until they are restored.

(2:08 p.m.) Via the Shelby County Sheriff's Office on Twitter: The roadway near Highway 280 and the Eagle Point subdivision in Northern Shelby County is blocked due to storm debris. Please avoid this area.

(2:31 p.m.) Via Helena Police on Twitter: Helena has received major damage as a result of the tornado. All phone lines to HPD are down. Call 911 if you need emergency assistance. Please stay out of the area of Old Town on Hwy 261.

(2:31 p.m.) Via Jefferson County EMA: Highway 31 is barricaded from Riverchase Parkway to Lorna Road due to flooding. Avoid the area.

(2:36 p.m.) via ALEA on Twitter: U.S. 231 near the Etowah County Line is closed due to a mudslide. U.S. 280 near the Eagle Point Area is closed due to tornado damage.

(2:36 p.m.) via ALEA on Twitter: Trees are reported down on Alabama 119 west of I-65 which are blocking the roadway.

(2:44 p.m.) Via Lauren Walsh re: Shelby County Sheriff's Office on Twitter: A portion of 119 at 280 is being shut down for active power lines down, as well as an eastbound portion of 280 by Eagle Point.

(6:36 p.m.) The following conditions are from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's Twitter page:

  • Roy Webb Road at Cedar Springs Road - trees are reported across the roadway
  • U.S. 278 (Piedmont) at Kimberly: low power line reported over the roadway
  • U.S. 431 NB at Teresa Cheatham: blocked due to debris
  • AL 261 (Helena) is closed
  • Bibb County - AL 5 south of Brent has several trees down in the roadway. There are reports of commercial vehicles that have been blown off the roadway due to heavy winds on U.S. 82 east of Centreville.
  • Bibb County - WB lanes of U.S. 82 are blocked near mile marker 85. There are reports of structural damaged in the Centreville, Brent and West Blocton areas. Several ALEA Troopers are en route to offer assistance
  • AL 144 is now OPEN.
