A major internet service outage is affecting much of West Alabama and other parts of the state.

The provider is Xfinity, and we can confirm that the University of Alabama campus is affected.
The UA Office of Information Technology sent this post out a few moments ago.
We have had communication with Xfinity, and they are working hard to restore service in our area.
However, they tell us it could be after 7:00 pm before service is completely restored in much of the area.
Some areas may come back before others, but it could be several hours until the problem is remedied.
