
Tuscaloosa Lands On Most Dangerous College Towns List
Just a day after the new crime numbers for Tuscaloosa were released and showed a downturn, a new "dangerous" list mentions Tuscaloosa.

The list is focused on college towns across America. As students return or start their college career, safety is always on the mind of most parents.
According to 1819 News, Tuscaloosa ranks second on the "most dangerous college towns" ratings.
Part of the report states, "Tuscaloosa, home to the University of Alabama, ranks second with 149 crimes per 10,000 residents".

The group that compiled the research claims the data comes from the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting system and local police department information from May 2023 to May 2025.
Overall, the study reviewed 26 college towns based on the crime data available through May of this year.
What college town came in ahead of Tuscaloosa at No. 1?
Gator fans won't be happy to see that Gainesville, Florida, was the "most dangerous college town".
Tempe, Arizona, ranks just beneath Tuscaloosa in third place.
