A child's worst nightmare is losing a parent. It's even worse when the parent or parents are lost in a tragic way. That tragedy is now a reality for these Alabama children who recently lost a parent in a violent way.

Nighttime routines are essential to a functional household, especially when children are involved.

Imagine being an adolescent and going though the nighttime routine with your parents home and all of a sudden things take a drastic turn. You and your siblings hear gunshots in the home.

One of your parents all of a sudden murdered in their sleep by their spouse.

Murder is exactly what this Alabama woman is being accused of according to People. Annie Huffstutler is being charged with the murder of her husband Shawn Watson after he was reportedly shot and killed while sleeping in their home.

According to People, Huffstutler and Watson's children were in the home and heard the gunshots. The children ended up calling the police after hearing the gun go off.

The father of five had all of his children in the home at the time of his murder. Currently there is no information on a motive for the shooting.

The shooting occurred around 2 a.m.. and Watson was found deceased in his bed according to WDHN.
