Tide #2 Ranking Bittersweet For One Reason
Alabama Crimson Tide is a basketball school?

It's beginning to look like that could be true in the near future.
What an incredible run Nate Oats Tide teams have been on over the last few seasons.
It's really one of the best stories in sports and it does not get the notoriety it deserves.
Coach Oats led the Tide to the FIRST NCAA Final Four in school history. We have had some other great coaches and players in our history so that makes it even more of a story.
However, I was talking to some fans last week at a local restaurant and I wasn't picking up on the vibe that I feel we should have this season.
We have been ranked in the upper echelon of college basketball elite teams all season long. Most recently, #3 for a while, and NOW, we are #2 in the USA.
WHY THE LONG FACE?
Well, one fan finally spoke up and said what everyone else within earshot seemed to agree with....Auburn is #1.
I see what the "rub" is at this time. It is wonderful that we're ranked at the top of the college basketball polls BUT it's not quite as exciting because Auburn is #1.
OK, I get it. It doesn't help that Auburn looks like they are pretty dang good on top of everything.
They are VERY good. Bruce Pearl is an excellent basketball coach. His teams are always competitive with anyone regardless of their ranking.
WAIT A MINUTE
Auburn just got beat by Florida. Florida was ranked #6 at the time.
This college basketball season is the greatest display of conference dominance in the history of the sport.
The SEC could very well have 14 teams in the NCAA Tournament this year. The previous record, I believe, belongs to the Big East and they sent 11 teams to the big dance.
We are watching history right in front of our eyes.
Saturday MUST be obnoxiously LOUD at Coleman Coliseum. Alabama isn't known for having the most "hostile" homes for the opponents to play.
We don't make lots of those "top places no team wants to play on the road". IT IS TIME TO CHANGE THAT THIS SATURDAY!
We have a basketball team capable of holding up that national championship trophy in April 2025.
SO, LET'S GET LOUD!
Let's get pumped about this team on the verge of taking over the #1 spot against our longtime rival, the Auburn Tigers.
How sweet will that be?
