According to 3 Man Front on WJOX 94.5 FM, three additional Crimson Tide players have reportedly tested positive for COVID-19. There are now eight Alabama players who have tested positive for the virus, all are reportedly asymptomatic.

The three newest positive tests have come from the second round of COVID-19 testing. The Crimson Tide program has a plan for its players when positive tests occur, the SEC recommended isolation and contact tracing for players who test positive.

The SEC welcomed back athletes on Monday for voluntary workouts. The athletes were subjected to COVID-19 testing prior to beginning workouts and are subject to temperature checks daily and periodic COVID-19 testing.

The identities of the players who have tested positive are unknown. Last week when the first five players reportedly tested positive the university released a statement citing privacy laws as the reason for not identifying the players by name.

Quarterback Mac Jones's father on Twitter responded to a tweet insinuating that Jones was one of the positive tests, saying that he was not and has not tested positive.

The Crimson Tide is not the only program to have players test positive for COVID-19, Oklahoma State, Auburn, Ole Miss, Florida State and others have tested positive.

The College Football Oversight Committee passed a recommendation to begin fall campus early, likely beginning on July 13. The recommendation will be voted on by the NCAA D-I Council on Wednesday. It is expected to be approved and it will accelerate the offseason program and is meant to provide coaches with teaching time on the field to make up for cancelled spring practice.
