The One Call Texas HC Steve Sarkisian Isn’t Going to Make
The 2023 Alabama Football season is less than 30 days away. All eyes will be on Tuscaloosa on Sept 9 when Texas squares off against the Tide at Bryant Denny Stadium.
Former Alabama offensive coordinator and current Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian was on the losing end of five regular games during the 2022 season. Out of those five losses, the closest one was against Alabama.
Sarkisian discussed last year's clash between the Horns and the Crimson Tide with syndicated radio host Colin Cowherd recently.
“We were in the red zone five times. We scored one touchdown," Sarkisian said.
"What a difference that game could have been had we been able to punch it in a couple of times.”
It's no secret that Steve Sarkisian and Nick Saban have nothing but respect for each other. Cowherd asked Sarkisian if he would call Saban the week of the game.
“Probably not the week of you know, maybe right before the season I’ll give him a call, but maybe not the week.”
“You know, I’ve got the utmost respect for him," Sarkisian added.
"Of course, I can’t say enough what he did for my career. We have some special moments. And that’s, you know, I learned this from Pete a long time ago with USC, there’s nothing better than competing against your friends and the people you respect the most.”
Alabama and Texas will meet on September 9 for the inaugural Allstate Crossbar Classic. Coverage is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. on ESPN.
