The Ghosts of Fort Gaines

If you've heard the famous phrase "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead," you may also know the history behind the renowned Fort Gaines. Because Fort Gaines was the focal point during the Battle of Mobile Bay, a large number of Union and Confederate lost their lives around this area. There have even been reports that these men still haunt this aging fortress.

Many employees and tourists have claimed to see the ghosts of soldiers walking around the premises, catching a few of them on camera. According to some spectators, one soldier follows his victims until they walk out of the Fort's gates. Others experience frequent cold spots and chills during their tour of the historical structure.

Fort Gaines is located on 51 Bienville Blvd in Dauphin Island, Alabama.
