The Cronut Countdown Begins
For the blissfully unaware, there's a craze sweeping Manhattan that's made it's way to Tuscaloosa, Alabama. A SoHo bakery has created a pastry that combines doughnuts and croissants and one must get in my belly.
Cronuts are $5 each at Dominique Ansel and the lines start early. Only 200 are made fresh daily and there's a strict 6 Cronut per person limit imposed. Evidently, people have gone so mad for these things, they're buying up as many as they can and selling them on Craigslist for up to $40 each.
Scott Shepherd and I agreed that we had to have one so we called my friend, Diana. She lives in New York and quickly agreed to help us in obtaining one. Her cost: a few dozen Krispy Kreme doughnuts sent over night and delivered to her doorstep.
This morning, Diana went to the bakery for recon. She was greeted with this:

This morning, Diana informed us that the 200 cronuts were sold out in 12 minutes. This will definitely be a challenge but I've known Diana for ten years, she'll pull it off even if she has to mug someone.
As of 7:24 am this morning, the countdown began. To preserve freshness, the search will be paused until Monday but how long will it take our Special Cronut Correspondent to pull off what appears to be the impossible?
The closest guess will be invited to sample a cronut live on the air with Madison and Shepherd. In the event of a tie, we'll flip a coin.
Good luck and guess wisely.
